2006 Titus Napa Valley Zinfandel
This Napa Valley Zin made by the Titus brothers Eric and Phillip is an example of the bold and spicy side that sometimes defines Zinfandel. Many Zinfandel’s, especially from warm climates, can be very jammy and fruit forwad and at times can even appear sweet. The 2004 Titus Napa Zinfandel is a bold and spicy style Zinfandel and one might refer to it as “the Cab drinkers Zin”.
On the nose I get deep black raspberry aromas that combine with a smuckers-like cassis jamminess! There is also a touch of cedar and a whap of alcohol on the back end. On the palate this wine continues to show it’s deep and ripe black fruits. Black raspberry, cassis, and a dose of chocolate are a few of the flavors that combine with a spicy and full bodied structure. I feel that the wine lacks a bit of finesse and just has perhaps a bit too much alcohol. Overall it’s a nice wine but for the price tag ($27.99) I was expecting a bit more.
